What We Do

 

DWA provides:

​

  • IT audits, assessments, and test of controls

  • Strategic information security officer (ISO) guidance and hands‑on chief information officer (CIO) consulting

  • On‑premises and cloud systems / network design consulting

 

We primarily serve financial and healthcare organizations, along with other organizations engaged in sensitive transaction processing.

About DWA

 

DWA was founded in 1994 as Damian Walters dba Damian Walters & Associates and reorganized in 2002 as Damian Walters & Associates, LLC. In 2024, DWA merged with North Central Area Credit Union as Damian Walters & Associates, LLC, a Michigan Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO), and in 2025 partnered with CU*Answers. This structure supports continued growth while maintaining our focus on disciplined testing and clear reporting.

 

The Role

 

DWA is searching for a Senior IT Auditor, Assessor, Tester to complement our team. This role is responsible for planning, conducting, and documenting IT compliance audits, security assessments, and test of controls - with a focus on clear evidence, defensible conclusions, and practical recommendations.

 

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)

 

IT General Controls

​

  • Access controls

  • Change management

  • System development life cycle controls

  • Network and data security controls

 

Application Controls

​

  • Input controls

  • Processing controls

  • Output controls

 

IT Governance

​

  • IT strategy alignment

  • Risk management

  • Compliance with relevant requirements (for example: Gramm‑Leach‑Bliley Act (GLBA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS))

 

Cybersecurity

​

  • Threat and risk assessments

  • Vulnerability scanning

  • Penetration testing coordination / validation

  • Incident response planning and readiness

Requirements

 

We’re looking for someone who is confident in both the technical and communication sides of the work.

 

You bring:

​

  • Robust verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional analytical skills and sound judgment.

  • Strong design and administration experience with:

    •   Microsoft servers and desktops;

    •   Microsoft 365;

    •   Local, wide, and cloud networks.

  • 10 years of technical IT experience OR 5 years of technical IT experience with a technical bachelor’s degree.

  • A top‑tier certification (for example: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)) OR the ability and desire to attain one in short order.

  • Hands‑on familiarity with security and control frameworks (for example: NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF), FFIEC IT Examination Handbooks, PCI DSS).

  • Strong ethical and professional judgment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to travel 1–3 weekdays, 1–2 times per month.

Important Notes

​

  • This is not a remote position. Candidates must reside in Southern Michigan.

  • This position is not open to recruitment agencies.

 

Compensation and Benefits

​

  • $125,000/year total compensation ($100,000 base + $25,000 commission).

  • 401(k) with 4% base plus 6% match.
